What can you expect on the "Exclusive" red light tour?
Explore Amsterdam’s No. 1 visitor magnet: no other neighbourhood attracts as many visitors as the notorious Red Light District. In Amsterdam, it is part of the city’s oldest and most famous history, but also its darkest depths.
On our exclusive tour in a small group, you will discover how pleasure and social ills go hand in hand here. Our experienced guides will tell you where the sex workers come from, under what conditions and on what terms they work, how they negotiate with their clients and how safe their work behind the pink curtains really is.
During our tour, you will have the opportunity to visit a peep show. You will also get the best tips and recommendations from our guides.

Red light districts are just for partying and halligalli? In Amsterdam, the reality could hardly be further from that. On our exclusive tour through the neighbourhood, you will get to know the notorious red light district from a perspective that will amaze and shock you, but also make you laugh and make you think.
Stroll with us through the narrow streets and discover Amsterdam’s oldest church, surrounded by the city’s oldest red-light windows. Find out from our guides what the “Oude Kerk” is all about and what sets it apart from all the other churches in the city. Spoiler: the church has also profited from sex work…
The neighbourhood between cult and culture
On your way through the neighbourhood, you will encounter a mix of old canal houses, eye-catching neon signs and the typical Amsterdam charm that gives the sex district its unique character. Some of the highlights include the popular “Condomerie”, the Casa Rosso sex theatre, the oldest coffee shops in the city and the banana bar. On our guided tour, we’ll tell you all about what you can experience in these special establishments.
The highlight of the “Exclusive” red light tour is a visit to a peep show from the 70s. What was then cutting-edge is now the nostalgic, neon-sparkling jewel of the red light district. A visit to the show costs 3 euros.
Fun versus safety
The focus of this tour is on critical information. It is important to us to also shed light on the darker sides and abuses of sex work, as these are an essential part of sex work and are being combated by non-profit organisations such as “Dignita” in Amsterdam.
Nevertheless, the tour is also very funny, as the neighbourhood naturally has many absurdities in store. The tour can also be adapted if you are a hen party or school group, for example.
Important information about the red light tour
The public red light tour is for ages 18 and over, 16 and over with a parent or guardian. If you would like to take younger family members on the red light tour, please book a private tour so that the tour can be adapted to the age of the participants. The red light district is also suitable for young people if, like us, it is viewed from a critical perspective.
Would you like to discover more of Amsterdam?
Our cultural city centre tour is the perfect complement to the red light tour. It takes you along the most romantic canals and the most beautiful sights in the centre of Amsterdam. Right next door, we’ll show you the hidden courtyards on our Jordaant Tour and give you lots of tips for the rest of your stay in Amsterdam.
If you want to explore Amsterdam from the water: Hop aboard one of our beautiful canal boats and discover the most beautiful corners of Amsterdam on the many waterways with our German guides on board.

Insider tip
Theresa from Incredible Amsterdam: “The red light district is as old as Amsterdam itself. Our tour reveals what would otherwise remain hidden from the outside.
Meeting point
We meet on the steps of the National Monument (Nationaal Monument) on Dam Square. The monument resembles a large white column or obelisk. You will recognise your guide by the red name tag around their neck.
