The best brunch in Amsterdam: the locals’ favourites

On a Sunday morning (or, let’s be honest, EVERY morning ;)) there’s nothing better than a cosy brunch to talk about God and the world. And our charming canal city is the perfect place to do just that! Amsterdam is known for its varied cuisine and diverse international cuisines, which is also reflected in our great brunch options. The Dutch love their brunch at least as much as the many tourists who visit us every year.
If you fancy joining us on a culinary world tour and eating your way around the world at brunch, then this article is for you. We’ve put together all the important information at a glance, including our personal favourite dishes from around the world. Shoes on and champagne glasses at the ready: Here is your guide for the best brunch in Amsterdam! ❤️

1) Bakers &Roasters
Bakers & Roasters in de Pijp is one of our clear favourites! If you’ve ever been lucky enough to travel to faraway New Zealand, you’ll know that the Aussies have perfected their brunch! Expect creamy avocado toast, delicious halloumi, first-class sausages, the perfect egg and the best brunch cocktails you’ve ever tasted. It’s also wise not to come here at rush hour, as Bakers and Roasters is one of the most popular spots in the whole city. Only walk-ins are accepted here. If it’s very busy on your favourite day, you can put your name on a waiting list and enjoy your first coffee-to-go while you wait for one of the contested seats. To minimise the waiting time, we recommend that you don’t visit during rush hour (i.e. at the weekend between 10:00 and 12:00).

2) Dignita
Dignita not only has first-class food, but also a first-class mission behind it. The restaurant is part of the Not For Sales initiative and is committed to supporting vulnerable social groups and reintegrating them into society. What does this have to do with Amsterdam’s red light district, among other things? Join us on a red light tour and find out!
In addition to the good mission, Dignita also offers a delicious all-day brunch. The dishes focus on brunch classics with a modern twist. Particular attention is paid to the use of seasonal products. If you are looking for the best brunch in Amsterdam it is always worth a visit!
Insider tip: Dignita is currently also offering a great 3-course dinner to celebrate the Amsterdam Light Festival!

3) Moak
What kind of Amsterdam brunch guide would it be if our beloved Dutch classics didn’t appear on the menu at least once? That’s right, none at all. Moak is the hotspot if you want to eat pancakes in true Dutch style. Although the classics with syrup or Nutella are also available, we advise you to try Moak’s very own creations. Incidentally, the Dutch are also very nutrition-conscious and exercise a lot. That’s why Moak also offers healthy pancake alternatives to the classics.

Favourite dish: The Rich and Famous. As the name suggests, decadence is the order of the day here. If you’re going to eat pancakes, then do it properly 😉.

4) Omelegg
At Omelegg, the name once again says it all: our beloved breakfast egg is the star of the show here. Whether scrambled eggs, fried eggs or a savoury omelette with everything you can imagine – at Omelegg they have truly perfected the art of egg preparation!
Be prepared for a bit of a wait here. The restaurant does not accept reservations, but is first-come-first-served. But if that doesn’t bother you, you won’t be disappointed. You can even wait a few minutes for the perfect (and super freshly prepared) breakfast egg 😉

5) Benji’s
Benjis impresses above all with its cool interior design with a mix of rough concrete construction and all kinds of plants, which nevertheless give the whole place a nice cosy feel. Here you will find Asian brunch options, (bao) buns and delicious coffee. Anyone who has had too many Eggs Benny and is looking for something a little different from the classics will find what they are looking for here. The same goes for people looking for something lighter for brunch. This is a serious – and not so well known! – spot if you are hunting for the best brunch in Amsterdam.

Garnished with exotic fruits, nuts and seeds, the bowls are not only very healthy, but also look great. If you’re looking for a hip and light brunch option, these bowls are just the thing for you. 7) Greenwood’s
At Greenwood’s, there’s a queue pretty much every time you fancy brunch. And rightly so! Located in the centre of our beautiful Jordaan district, Greenwood’s also spoils you with delicious modern European and North American brunch options. Here too, great attention is paid to the use of local and seasonal products. You will realise that Amsterdam is a city that is committed to sustainability – and this is also reflected in the culinary scene. For example, only recycled paper/plastic is used here and the controversial avocado has been removed from the menu. Another restaurant with a great mission behind it!
